  • Don’t access Nextcloud from public computers as that is very bad for security.

If you must expose it to the internet I would strongly recommend all of the hardening stuff and isolating the deployment to its own vlan with limited access. Remember to follow least privilege and defense in depth. You can find more information on these two concepts online. Account for two pieces of software having serious security issues. (Thus have multiple layers an attacker needs to bypass plus monitoring)

  • Nextcloud needs enough ram to work correctly. I wouldn’t run it on a raspberry pi.

When Nextcloud is idling it doesn’t need much but as soon as you start heavily using it or does background maintenance you are going to want more ram. The latest version fixed a lot of the high ram usage for me but it still isn’t lightweight. Also for Jitsi you are going to have the same problem as it needs lots of ram as well.

For me personally I found Nextcloud Talk to be very good and I’ve used it for meetings. You need to be aware of performance considerations but other than that I would it straight forward and easy to use.

  • I believe ZFS is smart enough to automatically find the disk on the system as it looks at all the other information like the disk id. It shouldn’t just lose a drive.

zpool just shows the original path of the disk when it was added. Behind the scenes ZFS knows your drives. There is a chance I am totally wrong about this.

What is the output of lsblk? Any missing drives?

No bigotry or fascism. This is a Star Trek community. Hating someone off of their race, culture, creed, sexuality, or identity is not remotely acceptable, neither is supporting people who actively want to kill those groups. Mistakes can happen but do your best to respect others.

So quick thing. Our community has a rule of ‘No bigotry’. Honestly? I think that if you voted for Trump you basically violated that rule. So lemme be clear. If you voted for Trump, voted for Third Party, or didn’t vote at all and you say as much on this community, I will permanently ban you. Yes, I am including Third Party in that. Jill Stein is an open asset of the Russians. More over, a Third Party candidate was never going to win. Your position of a protest vote did nothing other than fuck over everyone else in the country. You are just as bad as the people who did not vote and worse than the people who voted for Trump. At least they were honest about what they were doing. You deluded yourself into believing that a completely different election was happening and actively enabled fascism. You do not get to call yourself a Star Trek fan when your actions have shown that you go against absolutely everything that it stands for and represents.

Also some of the mods of that community have gotten in trouble elsewhere for there “quests” against fascism. I don’t care what you believe but forcing a large community to hyperfocus on some silly agenda is not a good look for moderators.
