Possibly try “Yet Another Call Blocker”, though I believe I had to install it using fdroid.
I first found it when I had a day of 1 spam call with the first digits matching my own number every few minutes.
Its database is out of date and not blocking any spam calls at all. 🙁
have you enabled automatic updates in the app settings? because so far it’s been working great for me.
Ah I used it more for building my own blocklists so hadn’t looked for that. Sorry that I can’t help more
Around where I live everyone uses TrueCaller. Absolute ad-ridden garbage though. I am using the Google dialer at the moment. Hoping there are some good ones in here.
The built-in one works very well for me.
Which built-in spam blocker?
Pixel phones have built in spam blocking on phone calls and messages.
Wait, that’s Pixel-specific and not Android default functionality?
I think it is on android in the ‘phone’ app, but many other manufacturers have their own default apps, so it’s not as common for them to use it. Also, I think it was exclusive for a while since only pixels had Android 12 when the feature came out. I think now anyone can use it but I have a pixel and can’t really confirm that.
No, its the google dialer and messenger.
Messenger is safe becuase of RCS (assuming Thats what youre using) gets iffy with the dialer though. Robokiller is really good as well, us, it fucks with the scammers, and has challenges for unknown numbers.
Has nothing to do with Pixels, its just the Google dialer and msgs.
I’ve been using “Should I Answer?”, it’s not as popular as others so the database may be less updated, but it’s free (although it does offer a subscription plan, but the free version does not lack any features). Works fine for me, I never had a spam call, but on the other hand I live in a European country and the spam and robocalls are very limited, I was getting maybe 5-10 spam calls per year before using a call blocker.
Nophonespam, old, ugly, but does the job
