I have always been curious about this. Did you get them to use other services or did they stubbornly refuse and you just accepted it? I am talking using Chrome, using Windows, using social media like Tiktok or Facebook or Instagram, etc. Bonus points if you have kids because that is even more work in the privacy realm

My spouse was a very late adopter vs me, to going online & using a pc, so in this way I was lucky that they didn’t know to question things that I did with their pc, like using ad blockers, choosing their search engine & browser, etc. And I was lucky that they never grew to have any interest in any of this, they just let me do what I wanted, because as long as they could go online & their pc ran smoothly, they weren’t complaining. As for our kids, they are who I always go to for any concerns of my own, and they are who taught me how to use a pc and go online. They have also dubbed me paranoid panda, but they don’t mind if I become overly obsessed about privacy/security, because in the end now, we all have our own pc’s and internet capable devices and our own internet connections.
