Hello, some people have told me that it is possible to see lemmy posts from mastodon. To me it makes a lot of sense to have a single app for whole fediverse. However, mastodon is not doing a good job at this.

Each time I look at my mastodon home feed, it is spammed with completely random posts from lemmy which do not even show up in the organised view wefwef/memmy provide. Is there any way how to take care of this?

For lemmy I have found wefwef and memmy to be actually quite good. Interface is simple and easy to use, posts look organised. On mastodon it just feels far worse, especially with lemmy connected.

Are there any alternatives to the official mastodon app that would allow better integration with lemmy? To me it seems logical to have a single app for both platforms as they use the same principle.

Just because you can doesn’t mean you’ll have a great experience. Mastodon and friends are clearly set up for a linear timeline, like Twitter, and Lemmy/Kbin clearly is not. I don’t know how Friendica deals with Lemmy threads, maybe that’s an option?

There are alternative Mastodon clients like Fedilab that can show you a threaded overview of a message, but your timeline will still be quite messy.

One way around this is to categorise everyone you follow into lists. You can have a Mastodon list for normal toots and maybe even include the communities from Lemmy to follow top level posts as well. You won’t see the reply storm unless you click an item in those lists, and with tools like Fedilab you’ll even be able to follow the discussion like on Lemmy.

Your main timeline will still be filled with Lemmy comments, but if you always open your curated list then you can enjoy both in one place.
