I’ve been using Invidious and NewPipe to watch YouTube for a long time. I don’t use an account with either of these. However, I’m wanting to get recommendations based on what I watch and my subscriptions. LibreTube looked promising but it no longer works. When I try to watch videos it won’t play. YouTube Vanced is dead. Not sure if another viable solution exists.
Vanced is dead, but ReVanced isn’t.
And SmartTubeNext for Android TV
Works so well on Android TV! +1 for this app, been using it for years and it still gets regular updates
I use it myself, but somehow all the recommendations are just boring right now.
It mostly shows things that I’ve already watched, or things from months or even years ago.
Rarely new and trending stuff shows up.
Its just showing you youtube recommendations, I think
Does that one work on LG tvs?
LG uses WebOS, not Android TV. Get an external Android TV system like an Nvidia Shield.
LibreTube looked promising but it no longer works.
You just need to switch to another Piped instance in the settings. You need to click on the three dots, then select settings, go to ‘Instance’ and at the top you can hit ‘Choose…’ to change the Piped instance. I haven’t experienced any issues with
adminforge.de
.kavin.rocks
also seems to work well.I’ll give it another go with your suggestion
I was having the same issues and switching worked. Thanks for the tip!

kavin.rocks
always works for me. I also run my own private instance on a VPS, so far it never got blocked.deleted by creator
Bruh, you are either unlucky or your ip itself may be bad and gets blocked by cloudflare wich i think the piped.video and kavin.rocks are using.
I selfhost my instance too at home with a VPN for the api and video proxy and its nearly flawless.

I didnt say that i allways use my instance, i use some of the public ones too with very few being slow due to many people using them. If one doesn’t work try another.
https://github.com/TeamPiped/Piped/wiki/Instances
The underlying issue is youtube rate limiting the video proxy, so if the instance is trying to play 10 videos at once it will get ratelimited.
The solution to such problem is either complicated or simple. The simple one is try to convince your favorite creators to use other platform then youtube for example peertube, Odysee or rumbl.

Grayjay. It’s still a bit buggy but exactly what you’re looking for.
Yeah, let’s see what the FUTO guys come up with. AFAIK they’re still struggling with licensing, getting an issue tracker running and quite some basic stuff. And I think YouTube won’t like what they’re doing. But I like that someone tries.

Huh? But I use Libretube everyday.
Same…
OPs issue was just that the instance they selected wasn’t working
