I feel like 75% of Mastodon are people talking about Linux. If you don’t care about Linux you feel alienated. I enjoy Mastodon and Lemmy, but the lack of more diverse subjects gets to me if I browse for too long.

Update: I took your advice and purchased a laptop for Linux, and now I care about it! Problem solved.

From my perspective, the Fediverse is full of people who think Biden is the greatest president ever, that we should stay locked down in our houses for the rest of our lives, that everything should be free or provided by the government, and that if you disagree with anyone on anything, you’re automatically a Trump supporter and a Nazi. (I don’t like Trump or his cult, btw.)

I do have a PC with Linux, but I can see where you’re coming from. Unfortunately, Linux isn’t for everybody.

Oh my god, you’re still using Linux?!? I switched to Windows ten years ago and haven’t looked back!!!

      • Average Linux user’s answer to someone asking a genuine question about a problem they’re having with Windows

Yeah, agree with OP, it’s a massive problem on lemmy too

I use it all. I have a Surface with Windows 11, a MacBook Pro (M1 Pro), and a Linux PC. I can see the merits of all of the platforms. I started using Linux in 2004, but I still think it isn’t for everybody. These days, Mac is probably my favorite platform, but that could change, and that’s OK.

Use what you want. People have different priorities and use cases.
