Being born in the 80s, I was told I was born in the nineteen hundreds. It didn’t feel great.

I came to this to post the same method with turning off lights so they go toward my patio door, then I just crack the door and shoo them out. Glad to see someone else using this very fast method, generally it only takes a few minutes for the fly to decide it doesn’t want to be in the dark.
Even as useful as I’ve found it, probably not.
I couldn’t agree more. The idea seemed to have been “Hey, lets take a joke that was just luke warm at best to begin with, and then over use it in an attempt to wring every single spec of amusement out of it until our audience gets physically sick when they hear it”
Still a fun show though!
Exactly what I’d expect for something associated with Musk.
It bothers me that in the U.S., we extend that courtesy to pets who are suffering from terminal issues. But we expect loved ones to hang on and suffer for no real reason other then the vague notion that the imaginary sky man would disapprove.
My grandma passed away 2 months shy of her 101st birthday. I visited her a few weeks before she passed, she was gaunt, skeletal, couldn’t see us and was reacting to hallucination caused by their body slowly shutting down. She didn’t even know my Mom and I were even there, and when we told her her daughter was there to see her, she said “No, I don’t believe it” while staring blanking into the corner of the room. She wasn’t suffering from dementia, it was cancer that came back which was killing her. What reason would we not allow a loved pet to suffer though that, but a blood relative, hell yeah, let them lay and suffer for weeks, months, years.
I don’t have any grand ideas on how to prevent abuse, I just think it’s humane to not let a thinking being suffer needlessly.
Thank you for inducing me to the concept that fire drills inoculate me against fire. I love it ❤️
Prions are terrifying.
I too use Display Fusion, and yes you can specify different folders for different monitors for it to pull wallpapers out randomly. It’s very important for me since my main monitor is 4k, and my second monitor is 1920x1200 in portrait, and my wallpapers are REAL DIFFERENT per monitor size and orientation wise.

I’m so glad I could positively impact someone! I listen to audio books like a fiend, while cleaning, during laundry, during running and biking. But The Expanse books were the only books I’d be so hooked I’d listen to them while eating dinner instead of watching a show.
Yeah, I don’t you’d like the rest of the series then. I was completely hooked, but I listened to the audio books first and ended up not liking the show as much as the books. I think it’s more about what you experienced first. My big issue with the show is, they changed a bunch of characters, took some characters and combined them into one. A good example is Bobby wasn’t amazonian in stature, and I missed some of the technical details like needing crash couches in order to account for changing directions.
I highly recommend the book series! There are enough differences from the show to keep it fresh, AND the story in the books goes much further then the show got to.
I hope this is contagious.
Positively delightful! Thank you for sharing!
That’s the part I can’t figure out! I think diagnosing of tongue tie is more common now then it was when I was a baby. In the early 80’s, unless the tongue tie was bad enough to prevent the baby from feeding, they probably just said “Meh, good enough”. But it’s weird that it wasn’t called out in my dozens of other dentist visits over the years! I had no idea I was supposed to be able to reach my back edge my molars!
It sounds like we have a similar level of tongue tie! I can stick my tongue out, but not quite as far as I would be able to if it weren’t for the tongue tie. Yeah I’m leaning toward having it corrected, I had the dentist check what insurance would cover and I’d only have to color 180 out of pocket so that isn’t too bad.
That’s how I found out too! In 2019, I was at the dentist for a cleaning and check up. The dental hygienist had her hands in my mouth as they do and said “Oh, you’re a bit tongue tied”, I thought she was being cheeky that I was talkative since she had her hands in my mouth. When I could talk next, I asked what she meant, and she said the flap of skin I have attached on the bottom of my tongue, anchoring it to the floor of my mouth shouldn’t be there. And that it’s called being tongue tied, they correct it in infants when they find it.
So I had the same response you did, I had no idea it was just a phrase we use to say someone wasn’t talkative, but rather something physically that someone can have!
I think the big argument for is more so that I can’t reach the back surface of my molars, so I can’t clean them like normal people do. The other thing I have trouble with is, and I will not mince words, is performing oral sex. I’m a straight guy, and the day after performing oral sex, I can feel a little spot on the flap under my tongue that tears a little from trying to stick my tongue out. It’s a pretty good indicator that being tongue tied is in fact reducing my tongues mobility in a bunch of ways.
I do agree with those saying to get a second opinion. Since my dentist literally built a whole facility dedicated to fixing tongue ties, I feel like they’re not going to be honest since they stand to benefit from it. But on the other hand, it causes me problems, and it can fix those problems. I’m quite torn, with any elective surgery, there is always the worry that I’d regret it.
I hadn’t considered the possibility of an AI trained to be a scientist until two weeks ago when a Kurzgesagt video brought it up. Funny to see that being worked on.
