Its a shit situation all around in this case. People are angry, and not without reason. I do hope that we can learn from it and earn a better place in the world, but I am also a pessimist so I too will get angry and likely not be helpful.

My dood, it is a two party system. There was never really a choice (like you said a VERY easy one). You got to ether vote for the ruling party or a fascist. I don’t think anyone needed to be very informed. Local elections? oh research the hell out of those, at the national level? in the states? There was never really an option. Just at this point people picked the non option.

No US voter had the “ultimate” power to change anything, just two things to pick between. In this case they picked to tear it all down in a weird fascist way.

I think the issue (well one of many) with this line of thinking is that as she was appointed, even if elected she would not have been fairly elected. An issue with the Dems for many years now. People vote against things more then for them and the USA voted for trump over Harris. That nothing seems to have been learned other then “she should have won” or “maybe if we go farther right it will work this time” is a real mindfuck.

The Dems could “fix” that problem (since it is a party problem) but they don’t, ever. This is as much a failing of the Democratic party as the failure of American democracy collapsing into a two party system.

Well I was posting it more to the point of the I am sure wave of people saying “Well I voted for the Dems” is fast approaching.

Turnout seems to have been 158,481,688 (62.8%) in 2020 and although not yet tallied for 2024 the estimates are 138,437,782 counted so far. Can we just wait until the counts are done before making statements?

I don’t think there is any meaningful payment, but then again after reading this I would not put it past them to make some sort of pay for kids program in the future. Well if you look at the (granted simple) definition of fascism other then being a far right party China kinda nails it Fascist governments are usually totalitarian and authoritarian one-party states.[4][5][6] Under fascism, the economy and other parts of society are heavily and closely controlled by the government, usually by using a form of authoritarian corporatism, where companies and workers are supposed to work together under national unity. The government uses violence and police power to arrest, kill or stop anyone it does not think useful.[3][7]

And that then leads us to the weird concept of emulated fascism, or far left fascism. How much does it matter to someone living under a authoritarian regime what we call it anyway?
