Vegan is a philosophy, not a diet. The word you’re looking for is plant-based, not vegan.
A vegan wouldn’t buy leather shoes or woolen sweaters. Someone on a plant-based diet would.

Dogs taste better anyways. Can’t beat a good Elwood’s steak!
I gave you some from a girl to help balance things out!
But I can promise you, from many years net positive on reddit and a not disimilar result here, that you’re not reading your own tone.
Be mindful of the tone, only come off as combative against a near universally disliked topic, and know when you don’t care to curate yourself and are ready for the downvotes.
Your wording here makes you out to be combative, and people are combative in response. Read your own comments as if they’re directed AT you. And look specifically at what’s likely to make you want to argue back. You may even be surprised at what can get net positive response with the right wording.
I feel like the difference with Threads is Meta is owned by a much larger threat that can’t be trusted not to use Embrace Extend Extinguish in some evil genius way that ends up working.
Reddit’s owned by some dummy that did a lot of damage to his own platform but isn’t known to be smart enough or have the resources to threaten the fediverse.
I came to Lemmy because I disliked what Steve Huffman did to reddit.
I’d be completely fine with the users being here. I do miss the whole active community for every niche little thing part. If if federates that’d be neat.
It won’t, since greedy Steve Huffman can’t sell the fediverse to Google while screwing 3rd party devs and users that make it what it is. But I’d welcome it.
Sentiment shared.
I went from Firefox, to Chrome (came as default, didn’t swap because browser was fine), to Vivaldi which was really neat when I started learning Chrome was going to become suck, then back to good old Firefox when I learned that Vivaldi is Chromium.
Welp I just lost The Game. Thanks.
Was on Voyager until it updated past my old OS. Current version of Voyager no longer supports my old 6S Plus.
So now I’m on Thunder. It works. I liked Voyager better, but I won’t complain about an app that still works on my phone.
I am sure he may indeed have screwed Judy.
What a perfect comment to be interpreted in whichever way someone wants to interpret it.
The Game is the perfect counter/addition to Loss memes because every time I see a meme of Loss I know I just Loss The Game.
Then I get to say it and make othe people lose the game because of Loss. This makes me smile.
Pfp? Well I missed a memo. Seem to be fine without one though since I didn’t even know that was a thing.
Methane is both stronger than co2 and has the shorter half-life. We COULD swap to plant based diets on a mass scale to eliminate a huge portion of that.
It would also reduce land used for food farming (animals eat more than we get from eating them, and most are factory farmed and mass-produced fed monocrops to meet consumer demand), allowing us to rewild a lot of space.
That is in our power. Completely in OUR power. But nope. Blame corporations exclusively, take no personal action, bacon tho.
We’re going to suffer the effects of global warming, and it’s going to be everyone’s fault.
Rain World.
I have some spoilers (including the gist of the ending) but am playing as blind as I can manage. It’s nice to just play and discover without having a guide by my side.
Fuck Steve Huffman should be all I need to say. Came from Apollo.
I’m not fully settled though. I’ll probably end up making an account on another instance or two, and check out Mastodon. I was never a Twitter person but hey why not try new (similar but different) things? But I also don’t feel rushed to do any of that.
If you’re out of the loop: There was a Dexter’s Lab episode where the titular character could only say “Omelette du fromage” for the whole episode.
If you know that and an extended reference went over my head… oops!
Seen this so many times and glad to keep seeing it.
More people being informed on these scummy practices to look out for and avoid is a good thing.
“What I do won’t matter” said by every individual is exactly how nothing changes.
Sure the ocean won’t suffer for the loss of a few individual drops of water. But if there are no drops of water at all, there is no ocean.
We are all drops.
Different people react to different things. It takes many approaches to reach multiple types of humans.
I personally reacted after months of being shown hypocrisy, with the tipping point being when I said there’s no problem with eggs and dairy before I was shown what the egg and dairy industries do.
Part of that process was really realizing, not just knowing but consciously thinking about and considering the fact that humans are also meat. I am meat. The cats I loved were meat. My human family is meat. It’s not okay to eat them in a sandwich. Why is it okay to eat strangers in a sandwich?
No one approach will work on every human, and many people take a lot of different approaches over time to really understand.
