I think the difference between our positions is that I believe pointing a loaded weapon at someone should be considered as intending to kill that person, at least until evidence and circumstance can determine otherwise. Because aiming a weapon at someone is more than just a threat that you will use it against then, it is taking physical action to prepare to use it against them.
If someone got shot, the rest of it is sort of moot, isn’t it? Responding to trespassers by pulling out a gun is insane to begin with, if the trespassers aren’t doing anything else to imply a threat. Blocking the trespassers from leaving the property is bad enough, but to then threaten then with a gun is horrendous in its own right. Pointing that gun at them is insane unless he intended to shoot them.
If he was shooting targets for practice and had a lapse of judgement and accidentally shot someone, sure, that is a different situation. If you knowingly and intentionally point a gun at someone and “accidentally” shoot them, I don’t see how that is any different than intentionally shooting them, other than the timing of when you pull the trigger.

Windows Registry
I had recurring issues with registering Bluetooth devices, where they would pair initially but refuse to connect again after a reboot. I couldn’t remove the device from saved connections, and registry edits wouldn’t save or persist. I’d have to completely uninstall the driver, change the registry, and reinstall the drivers, with restarts between each step, to get it to work for 1-2 days.
Now, having to troubleshoot isn’t what turned me away from Windows to Linux. I knew I would run into that plenty on Linux as well, but I came to hate the registry. If I was going to have to go through all this trouble to get things to work, I might as well do it on a system I had more control over. I had worked with different distros on VMs and dual booting before, so when I built a new system, I just skipped Windows entirely.
Either put both the coins and bills in your pocket together and sort it out later, or don’t pick your items up off the counter until you sort out your change.
Because even if they gave your paper bills back separate from the coins, if your other hand is so occupied with the items you purchased, how were you going to get the bills in your wallet anyway?
Counterpoint, if the customer places the money on the counter for payment, how is there any issue if the cashier returns change by placing it on the counter?
What is considered polite may differ by region and culture. (I’m not claiming you specifically would be upset at this, it’s just relevant to the meme.)

Isn’t that more a social issue? Getting drunk and becoming violent isn’t a cause-effect. Someone that becomes abusive after drinking would be abusive without alcohol as well, that’s just a trigger for the behavior.
This is closer to an actual answer, though. It’s easier to remove drinking than to change drinking culture. It just didn’t work the last time they tried to ban alcohol (in the USA), so if behavior around drinking is the issue that is trying to be solved there are probably other ways to go about it.
Ok, but there are plenty of other items that that do that as well. It’s not a call out of “all drugs, including tobacco and alcohol”. It’s not a callout of microplastics. So there’s something specific to alcohol.

You’re missing the forest for the trees. Teachers need to be paid more so that they can actually support themselves. Making derisive comments about people moving to other careers because they pay better is just attacking the wrong people. Making millions on OF is an extreme exception, but there are plenty of teachers who have left the education field to become a bartender or such, because teaching wasn’t paying them enough to afford rent and groceries. Teachers leaving the field are the victims of this, get mad at the system not at the people trying to survive.
Like the other comment, I’d also like a follow-up on this as I usually use hot water to rinse it. The foam seems to get stuck on the razor if I use cold water. Is there something I’m missing that makes the cold water better?
