I musta missed the rape joke. I just took this as an acknowledgment and maybe slight celebration that a sex offender is going to jail.
Edit: I forgot I’m on my beehaw account and see a much smaller portion of the comments

There are models for detecting adult material, idk how well they’d work on CSAM though. Additionally, there exists a hash identification system for known images, idk if it’s available to the public, but I know apple has it.
Idk, but we gotta figure out something
We need more decentralization, a federated image/gif host with CSAM protections
no no no, its not a critique specifically of you. Native english speakers do this all the time. And I’m sure its inevitable that “comparatively” will make that transition too.
I’m interested: is there a german word to replace "vergleichsweise " to more explicitly mean “comparison”?
True, true…
Aside: Back in my day, we could use the term “relatively” to mean “in relation to” some other thing. Over time it became “in relation to the average thing” instead of a specific thing. Now it just means “a little bit”/“sort of”. Now people use “comparatively” to convey what “relatively” used to mean. Except… you just now seem to be making that same “relatively” transition with the word “comparatively”. I just find language interesting, and wonder what the next “relatively” will be once that meaning has been lost even to “comparatively”.
There are 2 types of people, the 2/3 year people, and the 20-life people. 10 is a lot to the 2/3 year people… but not to the others
Ok, thanks for the tip.
Idk, I watch a lot, a variety too. I thumbs content, mark not interested. And my recommendations are an absurd over representation of the last 3 or so topics I’ve recently viewed mixed with a small selection of my subscriptions it’s decided I want to watch.
So you’ve used TS and wouldn’t opt to kill it?!
Tbh I’ve only used JS and don’t know how different JS and TS are outside the typing.
Anything more than like 2.5mg seems to put me in a dysfunctional state where my short term memory is just… idk how to describe it other than completely and utterly fucked.
Idk if it’s just my genes, or ADHD or both, but my wife can tank edibles even as the petite little thing she is.
I stopped taking my meds at one point, won’t make that mistake again. At least not without some other major life changes, but probably not even then.
I read an interesting thread about “I hate politics” being an inherently anti-minority/anti-oppressed stance. Because to the majority, “politics” is often anything related to race/gender/social-status/etc. so it’s a disservice to those causes to ignore them.
And while I belong to a couple of minority/oppressed groups, I also get the idea of wanting to not be constantly inundated with those debates.
I’ve got no answers other than it’s complicated and something worth thinking about.
If you keep all the AC inside, how are we gonna combat global warming?
Actually, now I’m wondering how large of an AC would it take to dump earth heat back out into space…
I’m humble enough to know I’m not always right, but in this instance I can most definitely assure you that you are wrong.
Learning about consciousness and the likely deterministic state of reality really fucked with me for a bit. But with some antidepressants and some time, I’ve come around to thinking of all of that in a more abstract artsy way. Like, isn’t it neat that I was always going to type these words in this way at this time. The thoughts in my head feel real, the feeling of that feeling feels real… and it’s all probably just an emergent phenomenon of a self-management mechanism in our brain. Huh, that’s neat. Let’s see what happens next.
Then I kinda just go about my day, forgetting about how nothing matters. It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t matter, because it never has and never will. Shit just IS. Que sera, sera.
Any favorite extensions to stop this kind of tracking?
Ok, now enforce it. There’s plenty of examples of corps violating software licenses and nothing happens bc a open source project doesn’t have the resources to fight a mega-corp.
One of the reasons for not disclosing content recommendation algorithms is to combat spam or generally exploitation of the algo.
You’d be exclusively recommended content from whoever is trying the hardest to game the algorithms, and not however the algo was actually intended to work.
“Excavator” just doesn’t seem as funny to me.
Yep, beehaw is defederated from a couple of big instances, and so we don’t get any content from those servers, including comments.
For reference, I’ve got 10 comments under this post.
