I will say that this is both a benefit and a detriment to lemmy in my experience. You have to pay attention to multiple levels of information.

There’s a community called “adorableporn” that originally had, as part of its description “childlike” (other descriptors were things like “cute”) while being very clear that everyone on that community was 18+ (and even validating questionable posts with age verification). The wording of “childlike” has since been removed to ensure no confusion.

It’s very easy to sit on a high horse and say you’ve never had a negative impact due to your ignorance, when your own ignorance might include things that you don’t know are detrimental to others.
