A progressive society does not need to retroactively change history, it can accept the imperfections of the past in the knowledge that we’ve already changed.
How is pointing out the heinous shit changing history? If anything, it’s accepting the imperfections of the past and acknowledging we have changed by calling out the callousness of its prior implementation and calling out what to avoid… you are literally contradicting yourself.

I have always used clonezilla to just make a complete system image if that’s what you are looking for. The downside being its not gonna be a tool you just run from the command line, you need to install it to some bootable media and select each drive to backup. But if a full system image backup is your goal, I’d say give clonezilla a go.

Ok but if Google is not willing to support this effort, like I asked what’s your solution besides just letting it happen? Because that’s not gonna spark confidence for mass adoption to move away from these bloated ad and tracker filled mainstream apps. You need to have steps for progress and this allows more control when those who are publishing said knock off applications in their store will not.
They encourage you to contribute to the project and add plug-ins, they are just making sure your modification does not become the defacto so they can make sure malware, trackers or ads are not implemented into the application. They have the right to go after you if you go against this but sharing a modified apk with a friend is not going to revoke your license or get you targeted.
So how else would you combat malicious forks like what happened to new pipe? Honest question, I like this standard even if there are always more truly open source licenses, if this could become a standard that helps prevent bad actors from taking advantage of less savy users that’s a big win to me and a move in the right direction all while being able to see the source code download it modify if i deem fit and install it. Perfect is the enemy of progress. What’s your solution?
Seems pretty natural for me considering one of the points of open source software is to try and get away from trackers malware and bloated ad experiences so you can see directly what you are running, making sure your product is not able to be abused in that way promotes more open source initiatives while allowing the owners to make sure any changes jive with the original intent of their open source software. You are free to modify all you like so long as you don’t distribute a forked version with ads, malware or trackers. They cover this very clearly.
The point is more relevant when your work hardware is trash. My work machine has 16gb of ram and a quad core, my personal pc is a 12core, with 64gb of ram. If I could get at least 32gb of ram at work, I’d mind less, but it’s a pain in the ass with my current setup.

I mean realistically even then we don’t know for sure, it took humans and our ancestors a couple hundred thousand years to develop to to where we are at now. It’s not to say any other of our closest relatives could end up on a similar path without us in the picture in a much more tropical climate as they are used too. The question is will the earth stabilize itself when we get to that point or will we take it out of balance so severely that it goes into run away warming like Venus ending all life.
Even if all the soil for growing food goes to crap, we can just engineer food crops that can grow in that soil.
It’s not about soil going to crap its about the climate surrounding those areas changing. Moon and Mars experiments are about indoor climate controlled greenhouses which sure can be done anywhere but not at the scale needed for our current civilizations or to replace the agriculture infrastructure at scale we have now.
When I had a surface, windows hello and my pen would just stop working if an update was pending. Windows is always fun in this regard.
I mean not really once costal areas flood and the locations best for growing food change we will see massive issues with humanity surviving, the rest of the ecosystem would adapt, migrate and evolve to survive. Hell even chernobyl basically shows us even if we went the full nuclear option wildlife would bounce back better than before with just maybe shortened life expectancies. We are a lot more prone to die from changes than the wildlife on this planet is.
