One problem no one has mentioned, is that it also makes life a lot harder for homeless people.

But to those who organise those systems, they’re not consumers with disposable income or a credit line to spend. They are happy for them to fall through the cracks and people not using cash penalises them further by eradicating charity and widening divisions.

It is functioning as designed.

The idea of a government or at least a democratic consensus and few people spearheading certain efforts does make sense in my mind.

Most people cannot imagine a world without a state. It’s absolutely ingrained from an early age that we cannot survive without one so people do not even consider alternatives.

People with power/money are actively coopting every entity that can limit their power. You cant change that.

Because those with power will always try to assert it over those with none. There is an inane belief that being endowed with wealth and/or power somehow makes them morally superior.

if the government goes, another form of government comes and it will not be great because people arent educated and self thinking enough for that.

As soon as people invest in their community and begin putting into place structures of support, the time will come when the state is removed, becomes impossible to reinstate unless those community structures are destroyed, because why would you need the state if people are doing things for themselves better, more efficiently and with less corruption?

Our dependency on the state is nurtured because it exists only to maintain the status quo of the wealth & power of the elite class.

It is impossible to reform such a corrupt institution.

Exactly. The government cracks the whip but the rich own it.

Get rid of the rich & the govt will just transfer ownership of the whip to another entity.

We have the mandatory security training at my company and they said it was going to be revised after a few of us showed how the advice it gave was insecure and incorrect!

The main programmer got the job because of nepotism as well!

The other side of this is US websites that display “not available in your region” instead of the content.

The +170 nations that voted for a ceasefire need to put together a task force to take control of their nukes & decommission them then run a truth commission with prosecutions & executions of the convicted.

I’ve gone back there from time to time because there’s not the specialised subs here yet, or those that are don’t have the traffic.

What I’ve found on the main dubs I used to frequent is that they are full of reactionary comments that have no grasp of history, context or empathy.

The specialised subs, maybe were like this and I was just more tolerant to it, are full of low effort “please look at me doing absolutely fuck all in any way of producing meaningful content” posts.

There’s far too many to actually get to the content with effort so the signal to noise ratio is too low to fight off my general contempt of the place.

I was using Reddit Is Fun on mobile and a heavily curated desktop feed and migrated here fully when RiF died.

When I’ve looked at Reddit on desktop, it feels like a shadow of it’s former self in so far as some of the default subs are missing and others just seem filled with the same content reach time I’ve looked.

While the place won’t die overnight, it will become more overrun with bots and karma farmers posting same content over and over.

There’s a funny anecdote from Professor Ian Roberts that he tells at the launch for his book “The Energy Glut”.

He was approached by coca cola to carry out a study for them and they even suggested they would write the proposal for him so they could work together.

He suggested his own proposal that he research the road deaths and injuries attributed to transporting their nutritionally valueless sugary drink around the world.

He didn’t hear back from them!

I’m not vegan. I just don’t drink milk and I’m certainly not advocating veganism because you don’t have the ability to commit to 10 minutes to make your own oat milk so howTF are you going to make such a lifestyle change?

All I did was say how easy it is to make yourself as you complained about the cost and when you bleated about your very busy important lifestyle, laid out your options.

It’s quite obvious the biggest hurdle to you making changes to your life is you so good luck with that and I hope it works out.

Nobody has the time to do that.

Plant milks need to become way cheaper than currently 5x the cost for me in India.

So you have 3 choices there:

1. Examine your time management as you will have time that youre actually just procrastinating or pursuing bullshit that doesnt really matter as much as you think. (Dont lie - Very few people actually dont).

2. Pay 5x the cost for plant based products - is your time really worth that much in exchange for the convenience?

3. Keep drinking disgusting cows milk.

To make them cheap, make it yourself.
