Not surprising. Israel had the tech to bug everyones phones.

The Israeli NSO group which is a day 1 hacks group developed the Pegasus spyware and found lots of creative ways to get it on peoples phones. They also sold it later on to just about anyone who was willing to pay.

  • Tbf it’s rare to see normal people posting on social media in 2024, at least everyone I see is fucked up in some way.

This might be a bold assumption on my part but I would say most normal people do not have the energy for the craziness that occurs on a lot of socials now.

You want to engage and be a part of the community but it’s just far too exhausting in many cases. Easier to just browse most of the time.

  • From the context it was obviously an offhanded joke,

Ah so that’s the thread in question. Was wondering what post it was and honestly, I suspected that one of being rage bait.

The original image seemed like it was missing context so I figured OP was gonna come swinging in later against any comments saying it was extreme with the additional context.

And yes, out of context I thought it was a bit extreme. I don’t necessarily agree with what the first person in the image said although that’s a complex topic that deserves a much lengthier discussion, but just randomly having someone tell them that they’re a creep who deserves to be tased is fairly extreme without any additional context. Keep in mind, I have no idea who the individual is or what they’ve done.

  • There are merits for it and against it. My biggest concerns would be privacy regarding data scrapers .

Regarding poor behavior, I really think that ultimately comes down to moderation on the platform. I’ve only had a few poor experiences but I am also someone who sometimes sees certain threads as dumpster fires and refrains from joining in or refrains from responding when I feel there isn’t any form of discussion or chatter to be had. I can understand that it likely happens more often than not but I also believe that moderation is the only reasonable way of curbing it. Moderation teams have to make it clear that the behavior is not welcome and that it will be dealt with.
