Ok just want to make it clear that we never suspected Hexbear to be involved. This started before we defederated with them.

No this had nothing to do with Hexbear
*allegedly
We are not sure who was behind the ddos. It could have been that guy or it could have been users from exploding-heads.com because we defederated with them.
Or it could just as well have been an admins from another instance that didn’t like LW was the biggest instance.
The only thing that was sure was that they knew very well how Lemmy worked and which actions caused the heaviest load on the server.
We couldn’t handle the ddos at times, the influx was never the problem. Every time that did become a problem we upgraded the hardware.
He means it’s not up to him to make sure the person serving him makes a decent wage. That’s up to the employer.
Everyone who works for a company is a ‘slave’ we are all being exploited, some more than others. But if you make less than minimum wage without tips then yes maybe look for another job.
In a VM you can not really use your GPU so that’s not the way to go about it. So no, you seem uninformed
Nice! Cool to see this project evolve
Oh I ask because they managed to get it in photon and alexandrite. Not sure how they did it though
Neat! Any chance you can display the user modlog in there too? So everything can be seen and done from there?
They never had to deal with DDOS like LW. But agreed, they have a very capable team. Hi @[email protected] <3
Are you talking about Lemmy World? Because that has noticeably improved over the last few months.
Good thing you already put just “Disagreeing” in quotes.
Holy shit. “but what about climate change and education”. Goodbye
For everyone complaining about bots you have two that come and tell you that they are glad? I highly doubt it seeing the activity in those communities. You’re not the first one to do this reddit botspam, and our actions against these have been very consistent.
You can look that up here: https://gui.fediseer.com/instances/detail/lemmy.world
You create a bot that goes against our publicly-available policy and then you get mad we don’t want to change that policy for you. These rules about bots were put in place because our users requested it. And we are far from the only instance with that policy. Try to do the same on lemm.ee
Our announcement on the bot rules: https://lemmy.world/post/1860512 Another thread on Reddit repost bots: https://lemmy.world/post/4844752
Replied somewhere in this thread already but I’ll post it again here. Reddit mirroring bots are not allowed on Lemmy World. We blocked the communities and defederated from the alien.top instance. I’ll add them to fediseer.com later.
