Fellow unashamed omnivore. The vegans have the moral high ground. I hope one day to become one. No need to shame or be ashamed of eating meat though. Changes to society take a while, shaming and blaming rarely improve the situation. It often makes things worse.

I think this is the crutch of our disagreement. My question to you is why? The Republicans want power. They want to turn the US into a Free Market Theocracy. Why shouldn’t they do what they are doing? I personally think what they are doing is bad, but why should they care?

I am more interested in your response to my first point, but I couldn’t let this stand. It’s such a bad comparison. Both the Dems and Republicans are fighting for power, they are not a victim and an aggressor, they are both aggressors.

I don’t think you understand. No reasonable person thinks that republicans are good or not to blame. Blaming the republicans won’t stop them from taking power. They have done and continue to do what they have said they will do and the Democratic party has done nothing to stop them.

It’s like your sky diving, and your parachute fails to open. Do you get upset at gravity or the guy who packed your parachute? Yeah, gravity is what is going to kill you, but it doesn’t care, that was the plan. The guy who packed the parachute is your only real way of controlling the situation.

The Democratic Party packed the parachute and it isn’t opening. Hopefully it does soon.

If they do it right, you won’t even notice or feel like you have no choice to buy something.

Who is “they”? You have to find out for yourself. Start by trying to figure out who is benefiting from your suffering. Keep asking questions. Try to make sense of the world. You’re doing good so far.

This happens in close source software too. You just don’t find out about it until it gets bad enough.

Is debian a good choice for new users? I know it’s used as a base for a lot of distros. But I’ve never used it. I assumed it was more technical and less user friendly.

Sorry about getting uppity, but your initial post sounded a lot like the kind of people who want to cause more suffering in the world by denying these problems exist. You got to put those people in their place, you know.

Wait I’m confused. You’re upset that somebody brought up a problem without a solution, and you’re upset about the idea of possible solutions to this problem.

Seems like you just don’t want to talk about this particular problem and have a traumatizing history of failing to convince people to not talk about it or the solutions.

Your sarcasm is on point but there are a limited number of people who can answer some questions. They get flooded and are answering questions on their own free time. So some people get left in the dust if they don’t follow the rules.

It sucks but I don’t see a way around it.

Left wing and right wing are like political vibes. They only make sense when you have more understanding of what the issues are. What they mean can change over time.

I think it’s easier to understand what the individual issues are and why people want them or don’t want them. Then you need to figure out what your ideology is and pick what things you want to support to further your political goals.

I think the only two ways this can happen are is the federal government agrees to the succession or succession by force (aka civil war).
