  • Baphomet is an occult archetype for the Supreme Deity, composed by both the male and female principles. The commonly found art/statue of Baphomet has both a phallus and breasts, representing the interconnectedness between these principles, just like Yin and Yang from Taoism are complementary to each other.

The same duo happens across various belief systems, such as Ancient Egypt (Isis and Osiris, Nun and Nunet), Brazilian Tupi-guarani indigenous people faith (Tupã e Jaci), some esoteric branches of Islam (Alaat or Al-Lat, the female principle of Allah), and so on. And there’s also Luciferianism, where there are Lucifer and Lilith sometimes seen as complementary, sometimes seen as “enemies”.

Regarding the Christianity, the Holy Ghost is a feminine name in Hebrew, so it’d be the nearest to this female principle of the Supreme Deity, a.k.a. The Mother Goddess (Asherah as others correctly pointed across the comments).

While we tend to see the male-female principles as phallus and vagina, the reproductive organs are actually just a representation on the physical realm from spiritual, energetic polarities. Everyone has both male and female energies (i.e. a man has also female energy within him, a woman has also a male energy within her), and we shall seek to balance them, seeking equilibrium between our inner man and our inner woman.

The patriarchal society tried to erase the figure of the Mother Goddess across the centuries, trying to make us forget how the first belief systems worshipped a Goddess instead of a God (Venus figurines, for example) but it seems like that this knowledge is being rediscovered nowadays.

  • As a Brazilian, not much. Throughout my entire lifetime, I saw some Brazilians there and there wearing Halloween costumes but it’s not as popular here as “quermesses” (kirmess, church fairs, happening mostly on Brazilian’s interiorian towns), Carnival, Christmas or some “important” soccer game (such as Corinthians vs Palmeiras, or Flamengo vs Fluminense).

To me, particularly, no holiday (nor soccer games) holds any importance or meaning. In the end of the day, it’ll be just capitalism mesmerizing people to spend money on temporary things.

  • I’m not autist, but I was diagnosed with some degree of Borderline and Schizotypal personality disorders. I used to believe in many conspiracy theories. I gave up on the majority of them since 2023, when I left Christianity and became Luciferian (not exactly “Luciferian” but it’s the closest label to my “religion” nowadays, which is no specific religion).

From my experience since the Orkut times among conspiracy theorists, I’d point out many factors that would lead people to “conspiracy theories”:

    • Mistrust of governments, corporations and institutions: public trust can be severely damaged when leaders and brands make mistakes, some people will overreact on those mistakes, leading to conspiracy theories.
    • Lack of sufficient transparency and freedom of information among researches and public policies: paywalling/university-walling scientific papers (ResearchGate was one of those platforms where I remember being paywalled), things that everyone should be able to read independently of socioeconomic status or educational formation, don’t help on the fight against misinformation and disinformation.
    • Religion: while I’m myself “almost-religious”, generally the esoteric and occult religions don’t have the same behavior than Christianity where there’s a strong belief on “we are saints, everything else is Satan”, “it’s us versus demons”. I was once a Christian so I’m not saying that to attack Christianity, but because I experienced it myself.
    • Human need for social belonging: it’s an intrinsic behavior of humans as a social species. We want to “belong”, we want to meet people that’d approve us. Since the hominin times, humans kind of need other humans for defending themselves against potential predators, then humans organized themselves in tribes. In a nutshell (oversimplifiedly speaking), tribes grew up, villages emerged, then towns, then cities, then countries… Globalization allowed the “grown tribes” to connect to each other, facing different lifestyles, different cultures, different beliefs. The internet allowed for real-time interaction with different cultures, yet our very deep instincts are from those fragile hominins having to decide whether to fight or flight when facing snakes and wolves and jaguars. So it’s a survival instinct, to be part of a social group, to belong, to survive. Conspiracy theorist groups are no different. In the end, everyone wants to belong, and people that don’t like/don’t trust the status quo are left with conspiracy theorist groups.

Maybe I’m wrong on my analysis, but I’m open for counterpoints.

  • Just a tip for the developer/sysadmins of loops.video, as a developer myself: Seems like loops.video has no DKIM or SPF configured (if that’s the domain being used to sent activation links/codes), so the tendency is for most email providers to block the mail or move it straight to Spam folder. The situation worsens when many users try to sign-up for an account, so loops.video sends a lot of sequential emails (which is something that could be seen as “spam behavior” by email providers). The developer should ensure that mail delivery is properly configured, particularly the trust headers (DKIM and SPF, as mentioned before) needed for sending emails.

  • I’m not sure if it’s a São Paulo (as in the state, not the city) thing, but I had English classes when I was in public high school (“ensino médio”). They weren’t the best English courses out there (i.e. they weren’t comparable to Brazilian schools that specialize in English courses such as CCAA, CNA, Fisk and Wizard), but they offered a good start for those who had no prior knowledge of the English language. It’s also worth mentioning that people who work in IT have more potential to come into contact with communication in English because a lot of documentation is in English. But I totally agree with you that most of the population does not have quality access to English courses.

  • Some surrealist (not exactly “gibberish” in the literal sense) ideas:

    • “Let ᚠ be the ζth factor of the ξth Pontryagin dual element from a Laplacian matrix, hence, the numerical representation from a graph, a Pontryagin duality graph. Let Σᛇ be the sum of probabilities such as ᚠ equals to zero. Determine the probabilities for ᛗ considering that sinh(ᛗ-ᚠ) × ᛟφv² + 1/log(dx) = φͲδx³ + ᚠδx² + 2x where δ is the Gompertz constant and x is the nodal variation for each parallelogram axe.”
    • “Given that a conventional passenger airliner flies at speeds below Mach 1, what appears to have been the exact sequence of events that led to an Airbus A380 stalling on August 23, 2027, when a flight (whose flight recorder was recovered but was severely damaged internally) carrying 138 passengers crashed into the Indian Ocean during a strong CME that somehow caused the plane to exceed Mach 1 before its crash?”
    • “Derek is wandering at the cemetery during midnight. He ate cooked rice and oat flour in the previous day. His cat, Mower, was diagnosed with pancreatitis. The entire Northern Hemisphere is announced to face severe weather due to anomalies within the Gulf Stream. Back at the cemetery, a specific grave seems misplaced: the gravedigger dug through a water pipe, now the grave is overflowing and filled with dirty water. Why those ravens seem to be following Derek?”
