Well have we tried becoming North Korea? That would definitely avoid North Korea from launching jukes at us. /s
Here’s an article that explores pros and cons; https://www.nationaltransmission.ca/manual-vs-automatic/
Interestingly all automatic transmissions I used had a high and low drives, which can be used to down shift or up shift as needed. Also, many automatic transmission from middle or high end cars have a semi-automatic shifter to go up and down gears. Best of both world.
I think this debate will be useless real soon anyway, with EV not needing a transmission at all.
And modern automatic gearbox are actually more performant and use less gas than human shifters. We’re not driving 90s cars anymore.
You can do SSH tunneling over DNS, so everything is possible.
A proper server should have one user per service.
The software can be open source, the product is branded and published.
What are you using for SSO?
sshd
Veritasium did a video about it, with data to back it up. They took old video and reposted them with and without clickbait titles and images. The difference of views is staggering. People just like it o suppose.
The web is already federated. Anyone can start their own web server and compete with everyone.
The problem is WEI will prevent you from using unauthorized browsers with, for example, Netflix or YouTube or your bank, if those services decide to force WEI.
Federating those services is near to impossible for various reasons. People could make competing services that don’t enforce WEI, and some people have.
Graps are delicious and I love the wins they make.
I’m an engineer with trade secrets on his laptop. I’ve heard of dozens of people getting laptops stolen from their cars that they left for like ten or fifteen minutes.
The chances are slims, but if it happens I’m in deep trouble whether those secrets leak of not. I’m not taking the risk. I’m encrypting my disk.
It’s not like there’s a difference in performance nowadays.

Unpopular opinion? Mastodon is a better Twitter than Lemmy is a better Reddit.
So many duplicated communities in Lemmy makes managing subscription impossible.
A lot of island nations have extreme import taxes on cars. See: every Caribbean island.
In case you’re serious; in most places in the world, cars are a luxury and taxed as such. In island nation in particular, imports are also very expensive in general and import taxes are most of their revenues.
TLDR: tax the rich, poor don’t need cars in sane cities.
Two wrong don’t make a right, but three left turns do.
“I’m sorry you merged WHAT upstream? No I don’t care if there’s a new glibc out there, the one we have works just fine.”
