  • My Dad had an Amstrad that you had to lift the cover up and put your hand on the 3.5 floppy dribe to make it work. We had a game called ‘Magic Carpet’ or something. Later we got a Windows 3.5 computer back when it booted to DODS amd you ran Windows from a command. I remember playing Prince of Persia and a game called ‘Cosmos Comic Adventures’

  • Seems reasonable to change your first name to make your life more convenient, but unless people encounter these names, they’ll never used to saying them.

In the UK it takes knowledge to know how to pronounce Irish names but one you’ve met a few Siobhans and Eoins you get used to it.

There is an element of historical oppression here though. Some people choose to use an Irish spelling because, well, the English keep trying to erase other cultures. That example didn’t work out as well as I thought it would.

  • Have you already used the ‘give feedback’ button on Google Maps? I think that’s the limit of what they offer. I’ve heard rumour that adding a business at your address makes it much more findable on Google Maps. But that might be adding misleading information. If Google started using OpenStreetMap data (they probably already do) they would have to attribute the data to the project. The big online shop named after a river has their drivers use OSM maps and they will add your driveway to the map etc themselves sometimes. So your additions to OSM will help you get some deliveries more reliably.
