  • Yeah it kind of is… The ones on the bathroom doors at my work place are a little metal plate at the bottom of the door with a grip on it, and a kind of… lip? I don’t know how else to describe it. You can probably find photos if you’re that interested.

But yeah, you kind of have to pause for a split second and brace, then you use your foot on the grip to pull the door open. After one or two times, it’s second nature now.

  • Yeah, and my taxes shouldn’t have to go toward paying for schools because I don’t have kids right now, right? And what about libraries? I haven’t been to one in decades, why should I pay for them? And roads… I don’t currently have a car, so I should not have to contribute to maintaining roads and bridges.

Are we really going to have to go back to middle school and explain the social contract?

  • Of all the things to be angry at re: health insurance, this ain’t it. You are not mad at Medicare existing. Like you do realize that 99% of people on this site want what you just described, but for all health care at all ages, right?

There are plenty of issues with Medicare, but what you just described is probably the easiest part of this whole situation for a European to understand due to its progressive nature.

  • These are 5000 years old stories written down 3000 years ago

You really aren’t doing much to help your case. With this context, can you provide a single piece of evidence to prove that any god exists? Doesn’t even need to be your god (though, that would obviously be the next step)… Any higher power or supernatural anything whatsoever.

After all, as the one making the extraordinary claim, you are the one who must provide the extraordinary evidence. The onus is on you. And “faith” does not fit into my worldview.
