  • Yeah tbh I also don’t know what to think about the parts regarding Ukraine/Russia and I’m against the genocide against Ukrainians. I don’t think they endorse that or do any mental gymnastics to justify it, at least I didn’t see that. They are anti-war and while I don’t necessarily agree with everything that entails for them, it’s consistent.

For me, genocide is a red line and there’s barely any political party positioning themselves openly against the Gaza genocide or even calling it a genocide in the first place.

And now I don’t want to sound like a dick or twisting your words against you, but to pick up on this

Are you, by any chance, letting the perfect be the enemy of the not completely evil?

Imo being pro Ukraine but also pro Israel is just a warmongering position driven out of selfish, geopolitical interests. And I won’t support any party like that. Again I don’t necessarily agree with everything that Mera25 wants but they draw a red line where I would draw it. Btw being apologetic about Russias invasion would also be a red line. Anyway, here’s me making a compromise and I hope you just think about if you’re making your compromise at the right point. Again, really hope I’m not sounding like a dick here because I think our opinions aren’t so far away from each other.

  • Nah I’m just tired of another liberal party posing as a left wing alternative just to cave against shareholder interests. This is the story of Social democrats and greens all over Europe, they promise the world and when they would actually have to stand up against the interests of the capitalist machinery they’ll do mental gymnastics to justify why they can’t do what they would really like to do.

But the real reason is that they’re afraid to lose power, see the social democrats in Denmark or even the Green Party in Germany, who do more right wing policy and sound more right wing than actual right wing parties some decades ago. I have zero trust in Volt being any different, they have a strong centrist corporate wing.

I stand by it, if you want an actual alternative that’s Mera25, not Volt.

  • To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Neil deGrasse Tyson. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Neil’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Neil deGrasse Tyson truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Neil’s existential catchphrase “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools… how I pity them. 😂

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Neil deGrasse Tyson tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

  • That’s cool I’ll look into that, any alternative to a centralized service that requires phone number auth is appreciated and I think competition will make these apps only better.

I like SimpleX because you can self host, create hidden profiles and even throwaway invite links. What platforms are you missing for SimpleX? I think you can run it on Android, iPhone and through Fdroid plus you could even run it on Tails. I don’t really need interconnectivity so never tried it, but I think it exists.

Anyway, for me it really doesn’t matter, just stumbled upon SimpleX and liked it. But the more alternatives the better.

  • They can keep living there, but if they want to live in peace they’ll have to accept that their whole existence in that land is based on the colonization and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and that their privilege exists through apartheid. And they have to accept to give all of this up and live together with Palestinians, compensate them for their losses, give back what belongs to them.

I’m not talking about what I personally demand, I get nothing out of this. I’m talking about what it takes for them to be able to live in peace.

If Russia takes over parts of Ukraine and colonizes them, they won’t ever be Russian and any resistance against the colonizers as it is carried out now legitimately by Ukrainians will forever remain legal, until they are free again.

In that sense, it doesn’t matter for how long Israel is colonizing Palestine, it will forever remain wrong and resistance will remain legitimate until Palestinians are free again. Israelis should be able to remain there, but only under the outlined conditions.

Now, assume there would Russians that live for 75 years in Ukrainian, colonized territory and continue their genocide of Ukrainians? Will you consider them native to that territory? They might live there in the 3rd generation. What would you do with them if that territory would be free again?
