I think we need to either redefine safe spaces, change people’s expectations of them, or get rid of them entirely.
I think we need to either redefine safe spaces, change people’s expectations of them, or get rid of them entirely.
This is a very extreme example. I’m saying that more nuanced discussion and differences in views from within a community struggle in safe spaces.
I understand the concept. I’m saying that this way of working creates echo chambers.
Unfortunately, a lot of these safe spaces become echo chambers. People don’t want to have their views challenged or try to see things from other perspectives. Many attempts at constructive dissent as mentioned in this post are discouraged and are generally unwelcome.
UoPeople doesn’t charge for online college courses, course materials, or annual enrollment. Pay our minimal fees as you go, never upfront.
What are these minimal fees, and what are they for? I’m always skeptical of these online learning providers that imply they are free but don’t quite say as much.
Printers and printer ink
Yes, weirdly the very same website wrote about it back then (https://www.iflscience.com/fully-intact-dinosaur-embryo-found-inside-fossilized-egg-62004). I’m not sure what inspired another article now.
Is this an automated post? You told me this already earlier today and I told you that I am cross-posting but most apps do not yet recognise the function.
This is just the same as the guy who calls his friend that “knows computers” about the most amazing app idea ever that’s totally guaranteed to make both of them millions. He can’t make the app himself; he’s just the ideas guy. Sure, he can’t pay anything right now, but it’s absolutely worth working on a vague idea for months for the chance of being a multi-millionaire by the end of the year. Right?

It’s mostly tabloid press covering this story, but here’s one slightly more legitimate source I found: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2023/08/01/zhanna-samsonova-tiktok-instagram-vegan-diet-dies/

This makes sense. Homes for a large numbers of additional people were needed, and these homes were available.
Is it just because of a funding crisis, or is it also because of rising prices partly due to sheer profiteering?
This was posted here two days ago:
I can’t believe Photopea (https://www.photopea.com/) is free. It has nearly all the same features as Photoshop and works in just the same way. But it runs in the browser! Super quick, regularly updated, and free. Amazing.
I’ll give a bit of a different view. I don’t think it’s always a great thing to dream big. In fact I think it can be harmful to us at times. It’s not just about struggling to break things down into smaller parts or finding the time. Some things just can’t/won’t be done successfully for all kinds of reasons.
Big dreams often need cooperation with others, resources beyond our means, etc. Breaking things down into smaller parts won’t make these issues easier. If we could all raise millions for our business ideas, for example, we would. Some photos try and try and try to chase their dreams and goals for years, and never succeed or even get close.
Dreaming big isn’t bad, but keeping your expectations grounded to reality is an unfortunate necessity for your own well-being.
Who said anything about challenging views all or most of the time?
The issue with constructive dissent is that if someone perceives an initial idea as bad, it cannot be dismissed or criticised; it has to be built on. Do we want things to be built on flawed foundations? We should be able to say “no” without being cast out from our own community.
