I just want you to know that I believe autistic people are one of greatest natural gifts that the world has given us. Y’all have a gift to see the world in a refreshingly-different way from everyone else, and there are many autistic folks in my life that I love dearly. Many of them have survived some very dark phases in their lives, where everything seemed hopeless, and yet today they are the happiest people I know.

Whatever you end up doing, I just want you to know that I believe your existence is a treasure to this world, and many others do as well. But I don’t know anything about the rest of your situation, and I respect whatever you decide to with your own life.

I feel that. If you have a job that gives you a balance of days off, make sure you are using those! I know i have been bad about that in the past and it contributed to burnout.

I don’t know your whole situation, but this seems like the kind of situation where you will never really get to share your feelings with them unless they realize they made mistakes that they should apologize for. RE: the games: I’m racking my brain and struggling a little bit to think of suggestions (not that you asked for them). I remember I was able to get Gothic II working on an old netbook back in the day, so older games like Space Empires are def the way to go!

I’m sorry about your anxiety issues 😔 I also have a (much less severe) anxiety disorder and am blessed to have meds that dramatically improved that for me. I find a lot of times, when I am anxious about something, it is really hard to get going but then much easier once i force myself to do the thing. It sounds like that may not be the case for you, but idk. Coping is a complicated system of tricking myself into starting things before i have time to anxious-spin about it.

I am probably more neurotypical than you, and I absolutely have the same problem. Don’t beat yourself up about it too much, it is objectively difficult to do.

Finally got a therapist… who seems to be just kinda going through paperwork with nothing to say of her own and no actually listening/talking to me. Just, y’know, filling out forms kinda stuff. For hours at a time @.@ Idunno if it’s really supposed to be like this for the first several appointments but I just feel like I’m not going to get any actual help from her.

It is not supposed to feel like that. Sorry to hear that! My first therapist was not the best for me, but even still I remember being excited and energized about therapy after the very first session and many more after. I think your goal of finding a NEW therapist is a smart one! I’m sorry about the struggles you are going through, I hope it turns around soonish ❤

Today is my birthday! so wish me a happy birthday

Took a week off from work last week. Maybe you could tell because I wasn’t on Beehaw all the time posting stupid memes lol. Spent the week dogsitting for my parents. I packed my gaming PC and made some great progress in Dork Souls 2, and binged those Castlevania animes on Netflix. I love to match “vibes” like this across my media I’m consuming. I also took the opportunity to take a lil t-break from the devil’s lettuce, and i’m definitely better off for it. Most importantly, I got in lots of R&R and I feel more rested, happy, and creative than I have in months. Back at work now and amazed how much easier my job is when i’m not constantly fighting burnout.

In this thread, I simply pointed out that she dodged the question about Gaza, and I was bombarded with replies about how I am endorsing Trump. This says to me that Beehaw is more scared of Trump than they care about the Palestinian genocide, bc y’all refuse to even have a conversation about this.

Either way the people of Gaza have a much better chance if Trump is decisively defeated.

I don’t disagree that Trump will be worse for the Palestinians. But I do disagree that things will be significantly better under Harris. 17000 dead children under Biden-Harris foreign policy, and Harris has given no indication that she will deviate from Biden’s policy on Israel.

I did not say this. I said that 20,000 deaths is “functionally equivalent” to 17,000, not “preferable”. Big difference in meaning. My point is that the two candidates are identical on this specific issue.

If your think the suffering of Palestinians is the greatest domestic issue facing the U.S., dwarfing all others combined, by all means let it guide your choice. But don’t complain about the internment camps that start getting built if Trump wins when you found everything else in this election irrelevant.

Well it’s a foreign issue, not a domestic one. But that aside, I am aware of and care about the other issues. It just strikes me as selfish to focus on what will happen to us if Trump wins when people elsewhere in the world are being slaughtered, and the “morally good” alternative supports that slaughter.

Six hundred Nader votes in Florida going to Gore instead 24 years ago would have put this country on a very different trajectory, so it is not hyperbole that staying home or voting for the other guy can result in an even worse outcome.

Look, I been around the block. I voted third party in 2016 and saw what came of that. I’m utilitarian about this at the end of the day, and I want to choose the candidate that will cause the least total suffering in the world as whole. I want the Overton Window in the US to shift left, and I think that happens through repeated Dem wins. But don’t get it twisted: the Dems are still the party that will throw you a few social justice crumbs so you don’t complain about being ground up by the gears of capitalism. They bypassed the primary process and stole your voice from you so they could choose the moderate candidate that they wanted.

And ultimately, I hate that the Dems have so successfully-whipped y’all into a panic about Trump that y’all won’t even DISCUSS this genocide anymore for fear that it will lead to a second Trump presidency. Watch them do it again with a new bogeyman in 4 years.
