I think they’ve all taken this to heart, like good Ferengi.

I know I don’t have the skills to drive one (at least not yet lol) but those things are engineering marvels.
I’ve always wanted to see one invert at speed to see if their downforce really is enough.
I can’t imagine all the materials sciences that go on behind the scenes.
I’ll take F1 over Nascar any day.
Disclaimer: I’ve never sat down to watch either, but if the choices are “turn left” or “winding, twisting course” I think I’m going with the one that has more variety.
I posted a Stargate meme to the Stargate page. One post in a month.
Over a hundred people up voted, so it’s got some lurkers at least.
I imagine a LOT of people are lurking and just waiting for their pages to be more active.
Cool.
Fuck you too. 😆
ITT: Addicts trying VERY HARD to justify why they relapsed, and just like addicts getting quite upset that someone suggest they not relapse.
“yeah but it’s just for…” “I only use it because…” “well until other things get better…”
Well they sure as fuck can’t get better when you run away looking for an answer instead of asking someone who might know.
While I agree immediately jumping to “Russia is backing this” is a small leap, this is hardle sophisticated, and hardly new. Russia and the US jave been involved in proxy wars for decades. Literally as long as either has been around, more or less, but pretty open about it since the cold war.
And hamas officials meeting with putin in Russia doesn’t sell the “Russia isn’t behind it” story either.
I believe it’s certainly possible, if not probable, but given tensions in the are never easy in occupied Palestine, it’s no surprise an oppressed people hit back once in awhile. It doesn’t take much prodding.
Maybe they should have stopped short of bullying terrorizing and straight up murdering civilians for checks notes walking home decades ago, then people might see the more sympathetically like Ukraine.
Ukraine is by no means perfect, I have known quite a few from my more religious teenage years having gone on a church trip. We had a woman named Ina attend our church for many years, and although she stopped going (same) I see her around town all the time. My point is I’ve heard stories for decades about the bad and the good. Israel has a lot of catching up to do if they want sympathy.
And also Ukraine didn’t respond to Russia invading by blowing up hospitals, schools, and Russian refugee camps in Sevastapol.
Honestly, I’d be more concerned about Mossad than fsb anywhere in the world, except maybe half of Russia.
I do local theater, and people don’t understand how correct you are.
Holy shit, Nevin, nobody gives a flying fuck that you have a degree, your line reading is flat as fuck. No I don’t care you starred in Hamlet during your community college days.
Well when you eliminate all the people, by definition I guess you take care of hamas…
I distinctly remember a few Russian commanding officers this past year and a half that tried to push a group of armed men into doing something they didn’t want.
it did not go well for them.
Well, since nobody is hiding in bunkers waiting for the fallout to dissipate and radiation levels to drop far enough that quick surface travel is survivable, I’m gonna call bullshit.
They may have done a thought exercise like how sometimes you might get super bored and go “what if that old man goes crazy and pulls out a sword” and plan out a fight scene.
There is no “we did a test of our nuclear strike response” because no matter what that plan is, it will not work. No battle plan survives contact with the enemy, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth. Your nuclear response plans mean fuckall when 80% of the people involved in your test will be dead in under 30 minutes. What is the estimate now? Like 12-20 minutes of warning?
Sure, totally about the US NAVY, which is why they’ve been bullying smaller ships from other countries instead of… Oh, idk… US Navy Ships.
If you stare down literally everyone while walking toward them, and don’t make any move to avoid them, you don’t get to blame them for you running into them.
Similarly, if you smell dog shit everywhere you go today, don’t blame everyone else while your shoe is literally caked in it.
tosses and turns, occasionally glancing at the clock, getting more and more pissed as the hours go by until finally, exhaustion creeping in, your alarm goes off
Repeat every day.
Every.
Single.
DAY.
I have an ancient tiny pickup (don’t get me started on EVs or how a van is better, I’m aware but poor and I don’t live/work in a city) and I’d say about 1-2 times a week when daily driving I’ll get mocked by someone with a giant, lifted, accent-lighted, chrome-trimmed, perfectly-unscathed monstrosity. Usually some form of homophoplbic slur to describe my vehicle choice.
I fill up for less than half the price, and I fit right next to most regular cars. I still park out in the empties because I don’t like being next to other vehicles, but I don’t have to.
Honestly I’d love an EV with a minivan size profile, truck clearance, and the enclosed rear is all cargo space. Literally all of my hobbies and work things would fit in it, and since I live on a hill in the middle of fields, I get a lot of wind and solar.
Of course, I’d love it even more if I could take a nap on a train with space for an equipment cart while I travel half an hour to work, but the next ice age will happen before passenger trains become that widespread.
People are a bit nicer in general here, I think, although certain niche subreddit were far more welcoming to newcomers.
I’ve only had two people on lemmy so far tell me my thoughts are stupid without bothering to explain why they feel this way, and only one person has assumed they know my life from a single comment. (homer_so_far.gif)
I have yet to see a single interaction where someone has changed someone else’s mind in an amicable and polite way with both thanking each other for their time though.
I tend to focus less on news post comments though. Someone calling me an idiot because I don’t blindly support something or someone doesn’t phase me.
Someone breaking down my comment about why Picard is a better starfleet captain than Commander Sisko and giving me reasons why I’m stupid for thinking that? That’ll stay with me for a few days.
Perhaps I just don’t interact unless it seems like the general vibe agrees with me, and therefore people are more likely to be nice, because I don’t like rejection and mean comments are just different kinds of rejection, so I hide in places I know will like me.
0 reason to interact when you know there’s a good chance you will come out unhappy, I get it.
Imagine trying to justify thousands of murdered children because some people decided to attack a festival.
An attack, I might add, the government had been informed of and bafflingly did the opposite of adding protection to heavy traffic areas…
