  • Interview With a Vampire … kind of … Lestat was by no means good to Louis, but their portrayals in the rest of the series was quite different … I think that Anne Rice was trying to show that neither of them should be considered reliable narrators and Louis will always try to portray his situation as awfully as possible and Lestat is a narcissist and will always try to portray himself in the best light even when acknowledging what he did incorrectly.

But, when I saw that book 2 was about Lestat, I was like … wtf … I hate this guy, why would I want a story with him as the main character and then I read them all, lol.

I think aliens would be horrified by so many things we do (or don’t do!) that wearing an entertainment device on your face wouldn’t even break the top 100.

ETA: The guy in the cyber truck though. That might get shown as an example in some of the other items in their list.

  • From what I understand due to the way that Lemmy handles federation, it doesn’t (currently?) have a way to handle an instance changing its domain name and still being able to communicate or even an individual user changing their instance and retaining their comments/votes/etc… (this might be more ActivityPub limited since the way Mastodon does it still seems pretty hacky and just a work around for underlying issues).

From a website perspective, yeah, just change some settings and you’re good to go and accessible on the web, but that doesn’t mean that anything regarding Lemmy is going to actually work.

  • TFA has an example of a fake warrant being used and the fake being clearly fake but accepted anyways.

I know a few people who happily have ring doorbells in their house as cheap cameras and don’t seem to care at all that all an officer has to do to get INTERIOR footage of their house is to ask for it and they get it no questions asked.
I hadn’t even thought of how easy that makes it for non officers to just do the same thing.

I mean, kind of … I have file servers, download servers, documentation servers, syncthing servers, backup servers, vaultwarden servers, etc… that are all linux VMs/containers and my main machine is a Macbook, but I do still have a Windows machine in the living room for gaming (yeah, Steam has pushed us far in this regard, but, when I get time to play a game, I just want to play it, I want the best chance it’s going to work the first time and that’s still, sadly, Windows). I have another windows machine running Blue Iris as my NVR because I didn’t have a good experience with Frigate, Shinobi or a few others. I’ve got a few other systems floating around that do various things and some of them are linux based and some are windows based depending on what’s easier/possible.

If you’re a single man with infants (under age 1) and/or children (under age 5) then, THEY are eligible for the benefits of the program. Women are specifically added in because the program is designed to also help pregnant, breastfeeding and/or postpartum women who have their own nutritional needs. Women who don’t meet those requirements are also not eligible.

So, you don’t get help with food for yourself, but you can get assistance for infants/children … there are other programs to help you.

Search terms used on Google in Incognito mode: single man with children WIC eligibility
Brings you to this page: https://www.joinproviders.com/state/illinois/wic/
    Which has the below information:
There are four kinds of eligibility for WIC:

    1. Categorical: you need to be a mom, child, or have custody of a child.

Moms have to be pregnant, up to six months past pregnancy, or up to your baby’s first birthday if you’re breastfeeding.

Children are eligible up to their fifth birthday.

Foster parents, guardians and single fathers who have custody of their children are also eligible.

    1. Residential: You need to live in the state where you’re applying.

    2. Nutritional: A health professional needs to determine if you are at “nutrition risk.” This might mean you have a medical condition like anemia, or a diet that could be healthier. You can see a health professional for free at a local WIC clinic.

    3. Financial: Your household needs to make less than the amounts listed in the income limit table below to qualify for WIC. A pregnant woman counts as two (or more) household members. If you know you’re having more than one baby, count each one as a household member.

The top link for that search is for a page in IL, but I saw similar for other states.

  • Is that planes that are packed to the gills or private planes that actually have space that people aren’t crammed into?

Also, 3-4/6 liters of what? ICE cars and modern planes aren’t burning the same fuel, so I’m not sure what this is intending to portray by directly comparing how much of each (in liters) that they burn (serious question, no snark)
